Joe Dever

Author and games designer, he was born 1956 in Chingford. Dever wrote on the genres fantasy and science fiction. His English tutor introduced the science fantasy genre to him. He was the first and maybe only British person to compete in the advanced Dungeons and Dragons Championship of America, which he won in 1982. He wrote game book Lone wolf and created two-other role-playing game book series called Freeway Warrior and Combat Heroes. He also designed several best selling computer and video games for PC’s and consoles.


John Drinkwater

Poet and dramatist, he was born 1st June 1888 – 1937 in Leytonstone. In 1918 he gained his first major success with his play Abraham Lincoln. He was an active member of the group of poets associated with Gloucestershire village of Dymock before the war, but he did not publish his first collection until 1923

Sydney Horler

A creative British Novelist who specialised in thrillers, born 18th July 1888- 1954 in Leytonstone. He was first employed with Western daily press and Allied newspapers in Bristol. When he left he became a special writer on the staff of Edward Hulton and Co in Manchester. He eventually decided to become a full time writer and became popular with his first crime novel, 'The mystery of No.1' in 1925 and other such as Checkmate.
