Damo meets Sampson and Kim
Sampson and Kim from LEAP came in to chat to Damo about Leap Confronting Conflict.
Leap is an organisation run by leading experts in youth and conflict, working with young people to bring about positive changes. One area in which they work is training people in conflict resolution through workshops that bring together drama, discussion and roleplays.
One of Leap’s main aims is to create safer schools and to tackle the menace of bullying and gangs. Listen to Sampson talking about this and how the workshops, aimed at 16-21 years olds, start by getting people to look at themselves and their own actions. Sampson also discusses the statistics that say that one in four Year 11 boys now carry a weapon. Leap tries to steer them in the right direction and show them the choices they have.
Kim began as a Quarrel Shop volunteer after doing a taster workshop which she really enjoyed. Listen to Kim talking about how she feels a lot more confident after passing through Leap and the realisation that not everything is about her. It has even helped her with finding a job!
Listen again to Sampson and Kim talk about Leap.
