Tony meets Jawbone

Waltham Forest based band Jawbone, visited the studio recently to speak to Tony on Silver Sounds. The band, made up of Giles Gooden, Rob Bartolomei and Simon Brown is an alternative country rock group that has been together for two and a half years.

Unfortunately, Rob couldn’t make it to the studio, but Giles and Simon definitely made up for his absence. They cleared up any questions like what exactly is ‘alternative country’? And how they ended up in Waltham Forest when the band started in Bournemouth? Plus, the group let you in on their musical influences and their personal opinion on the music biz.

The band performed at What's Cookin' back in October. Prestigious Rock 'n' Reel magazine was there and said:-

"The Jawbone Band are locals and although they’ve graced the What’s Cookin’ stage on many occasions, this is their first headline show, a warm-up for a tour with Chuck Berry. It seems an odd pairing: the Jawbone guys play the blues, but with Giles Gooden’s heavy guitar squall on ‘Revolution’ and the West Coast country-rock of ‘The Thing’, they’re probably more suited to a tour with Neil Young. Still, it’s a welcome break. Gooden’s shaping up to be a fine songwriter – he’s a particularly sharp lyricist – who deserves to be heard. A bright future beckons."
