Damo meets Jonathan Edwards

Olympic medallist Jonathan Edwards spoke to Streetlife FM’s Damo about his athletic career and his work on the 2012 Olympics in East London.

British athlete Jonathan started training in sports at a young age when his talent for the triple was first spotted. After studying Physics at university he turned his attention to the sport and broke the triple jump world record in 1995 after being the first man to jump 18 metres! Then he went on to break it again 20 minutes later. He is still the world record holder 14 years on. Jonathan was also voted BBC Sports Personality Of The Year in 1995 and was awarded a CBE after the 2000 Olympics. At one point in 2002 he held all four major gold medals after winning the triple jump events at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World and European Championships.

Listen to Jonathan talking about how you can get involved as a volunteer at the 2012 Olympics.
