Streetlife FM meets Councillor Rayner

Councillor Keith Rayner and Officer Roger Brett from Waltham Forest Council popped into Streetlife FM to chat to Odette and Winifred about their work in the council’s Civil Contingencies department. This department deals with emergency planning so if there are floods, large scale fires and the threat of collapsing buildings, these are your men!

Listen to Keith and Roger talking about having to move people of Mandeville Court in Chingford in rubber dinghies recently after an emergency and how they are prepared for any situation. Fires, floods and snow are all realistic threats so find out how you should prepare yourself in case of emergency.

Do you live on a flood plain or near a river? Do you have gas storage? Do you have somewhere to stay? Keith and Roger give practical advice on what you should have at the ready in your home.

Listen to find out how to prevent disaster striking and also how to protect yourself from catching swine flu.
